Hi again,

We’ve just completed a project that many of us have wanted to do for a long time, that is to completely re-write our order process and replace the way it works with a much more intuitive and web 2.0 (to coin a buzzword!) feel.

This process has quite a lot of javascript and utilizes AJAX techniques. We’ve tested this on all the major browser platforms but either Firefox or IE7 is recommended for best results. (more…)

Hi again,

Ok maybe not all of those things…in fact only transferring domains really, but as I sat down to write this post it seemed like I was trying to fit the proverbial camel through the eye of the needle.

As part of a major revamp I updated and re-wrote the UK2 instructions on how to transfer domains (as our process will be slightly changing soon). So I thought I’d also post a more general discussion in our blog for those of you who are confused with the options and methods out there (as it’s quite complicated). I’m grossly simplifying with this explanation I know, so please don’t get upset if I’ve glossed over the finer points!

Let’s begin by discussing what options there are for a domain transfer as there’s more than one way to move your domain or the services attached to it (or to skin a cat). (more…)

James runs CJ Website Design and does a wide variety of design work on ecommerce and other websites. He also offers search engine optimisation services and you can view his full portfolio here. James is 23 and based out of Derby. He has three years of commercial web development experience, particularly in ecommerce and transactional websites.

Today for part 4 of our series we have an interview with the UK designer Richard Stelmach! Richard is going to talk to us about finding a balance between making your site unique and brandable versus usability as well as search engine optimisation and the uses of business blogging.

Richard runs the design company Creative Binge and you can view his portfolio here. He also runs a very useful design blog. Richard has been working in the design industry for 4 years and lately has been playing with social media sites and the traffic you can generate from them. He received a lot of traffic from Digg for a post entitled “What will Facebook look like in 40 years?”.

Mathew is 23 and got his start with web design at an early age, he won several national web design competitions before he had even finished school!
