Today might seem like an ordinary Friday, but it’s not!
It is Robert Burns Day, St. Dwynwen’s Day and Fun At Work Day!
Robert Burns Day!
First of all January 25th is most famously known for being Robert Burns Day! Robert Burns was a poet and national bard of Scotland, and this day is the celebration of his birthday. He lived from 1759 to 1796 and two of his most well known works include “Auld Lang Syne” (most often sung at Hogmanay or New Years Eve) and “A Red, Red Rose”.
St Dwynwen’s Day!
The welsh also share this as a special day, as it is St Dwynwen’s Day. Dwynwen lived during the 5th century, and the story is that she fell in love but her father had arranged for her to marry another, you can read the full details here. As a result of this tragic tale, she has become the welsh patron saint of friendship and love, making her the welsh equivalent of St. Valentine
Fun At Work Day!
Can you believe it, but there’s a “Fun At Work Day”. Now I wish I’d found this out at 9am rather than 4.30pm - but hey better late than never!!!! So break out your largest smile, have a laugh with your colleagues and have a fab time counting down the last 45 minutes until the weekend starts!!!!
Finally “Happy Australia Day” for tomorrow to all our Aussie friends.
Byeeeee,
Nicola
